Union Township is a community in Washington County with a population estimated at 5,730. It is on the Washington/Allegheny County border, approximately 15 miles from Pittsburgh. It comprises 15.9 square miles with 2 major roads, Route 88 and Turnpike Route 43 with an interchange in the Township. Union Township officials believe it is poised for growth and is seeking to hire a Township Manager that can guide and facilitate future growth as well as provide strong administrative leadership to the staff as well as provide professional support for the 5 member board of elected supervisors.
The position of Township Manager is that of Chief Administrative Officer, reporting to the board. The Township is seeking someone with a master’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Urban Planning or related field. Ideally someone with at least 5 years’ experience in public or business administration or similarly related field with 2 years in a supervisory role in administration or finance.
Union Township is minimally staffed, meaning the successful candidate will be in a hands on role, working with the Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, Zoning Hearing Board and Park and Recreation board.
